The final stages

Putting out a chapbook has been a fun experience so far. Some parts are a lot better than others, but I’m learning a lot, which is always a plus.

One of the most interesting parts so far has been having my husband edit my poems. He goes through, checking content and grammar, makes tons of little notes and then, we discuss. I appreciate his corrections, but i’m fascinated by his interpretations of my poems. I know what it is I hoped to convey when I wrote them, but it’s exciting to hear him explain what they mean to him personally. A lot of what he says surprises me. I’ve found myself forgetting that I wrote the poem in the first place, and started thinking that he’s probably getting the authors meaning better than I am.

It’s a fun process.

In other news, I’ve named my book. Now to get some cover art and publish!
